Chef Valerie Gordon offers three hands-on culinary experiences, 3.5 hours each, during which you will enjoy preparing your own meal along with fellow cooks.

Join Culinary MC Billy Harris with Chef Johnny Ray Zone and the Howlin' Rays crew with friends from Trudy's Underground BBQ, City House from Nashville, Hog & Hominy from Memphis, chef Nyesha Arrington, Valerie Confections and a comforting treat from Milk Bar. An epic modern take on the Southern feast, featuring Nashville style hot chicken, meats, sides, and treats along with cocktails, appetizers, wine, coffee/matcha service, hosted by Billy Harris. Ticket price includes all food and beverages. Proceeds from the live auction, charity partners and The Wells Fargo Foundation, will benefit the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

Valerie Gordon of Valerie's Confections in LA is coming to Cattywampus to teach us how to decorate cake! If you've ever seen Valerie's gorgeous creations... at the farmers market, at one of her shops, or in her Sweet cookbook... then you know that they are truly special. She transforms layers of cake and frosting into treasures that are as much fun to give as they are to eat. In this cake decorating workshop, everyone will get their own 6" cake to customize, learn on, and take home. Valerie will teach you how to do fillings, frosting, crumb coating, and decorating with natural ingredients from the garden and farmers market. So plan a party for this weekend and let's make cakes together!

Time to mark your calendar with a swipe of BBQ sauce for the meatiest event at The Resort at Paws Up: Montana Master Grillers. From Austin to Boston, the heavy hitters of the grill including Nashville’s Carey Bringle, Boston’s Andy Husbands, Chicago’s Charlie McKenna and Wayne Mueller from Taylor, Texas will be there.

Inspired by L.A.’s best underground barbecues Valerie will be making desserts over an open flame, which imparts unique flavors as only BBQ can. Among her specialties are skillet brownies and grilled cherry clafouti (sounds like a perfect match for local Montana cherries).

Food Fare is the Guild’s main project and last year the event raised over $1.3-million in support of PPLA’s reproductive health care services, responsible sex education and advocacy programs.

Valerie Gordon is a celebrated chocolatier who has been recognized in Food & Wine, Bon Appétit, and Saveur, served as a guest judge on BRAVO’s “Top Chef: Just Desserts “and FYI’s “Man vs. Child, “and appeared numerous times on The Food Network and The Cooking Channel. She co-founded Valerie Confections in 2004 with her life and business partner Stan Weightman, Jr. as a tiny, family-run business with just six flavors of chocolate-dipped toffee. Now a top chocolatier in the country, her business has grown exponentially with a full line of chocolates, petits fours, handmade preserves, cakes, pies, and pastries all incorporating the very best ingredients and offering a delicious spin on the unexpected. In addition to her flagship shop in Los Angeles’ Silver Lake neighborhood, she also celebrates her savory side with contemporary Californian, French inspired breakfast and lunch fare at her two cafes and bakeries in Echo Park and downtown’s Grand Central Market.
